If you are an avid social media user in Nigeria you may have seen a few post about people posting crescent University was on of the worst universities in Nigeria by NUC.
The narrative circulating on social media claims crescent University is ranking number six among the worst universities in Nigeria.
According to the social media post, crescent University as been tagged along some other universities in Nigeria as worst ,some of the universities are Hallmark University, Achievers University, Dominican University, and legacy university etc.
The notion has been widely shared on social media with many people saying different things about the school.
This same post was also found on a WhatsApp group and also reposted by a student

VERIFICATION
In this post, I noticed that most of the universities listed there are private universities, in which they are directing it to students not to choose out of this universities.
However an interview was conducted to know the views of the student of crescent University about this particular post.
Ayigoro Taofeekat, a microbiology student said
“My school is half of the best school in Nigeria because out lecturers are actually good in teaching,we have the best courses in my school “.
For my own course microbiology we have the best laboratory, we have out equipment that we use to isolate and culture as a microbiologist, so I don’t think crescent University is a worst university in Nigeria.
An architecture student, Bakare freedom said, she have spent up to four month in crescent University but before she came to crescent University she has been to Amadu Bello University.
“I will say crescent University is not the worst because obviously there are something that are not so bad,but there certain things that can be improved”.
Academically, I will say they really put student to work with assignments, I am an architecture student I always have something to do. The lectures are not so bad ,if they don’t give you material, they will give you note in class and sometimes you get past questions to prepare for examination if you yourself you don’t want to read.overall I will not say is such a bad school, it can still be better she concluded.
To make justification to all this, I also interviewed the Dean of students affairs of crescent University abeokuta.
Prof R.O kareem the dean of students affairs of the University said that kind of report is not right.
“Accidentally he said during 18th matriculation, the vice chancellor talks about this post,where some people will deliberately create website that is not from NUC.
He explained that all the programmes we run here has been accredited.
Fortunately,we have a proof where the NUC requested for a CCMAS ( core curriculum and minimum academic standards) and crescent University have an excellent results.
He continues saying some mischievous are out there to bring down private universities, the owner of the school is a man that know about justice and he won’t do anything that will violate the rule of the NUC.
He concluded by saying our graduate are out there with great performance and this particular fact,rumor about the school is not true.
I also went to Google to search for any new on universities ranking in Nigeria by NUC which the following universities happen to be the list given by NUC in 2023 according to this website @Nigerianfinder on Google University of ibadan,University of Nigeria, NsukkaUniversity of lagos Obafemi Awolowo University,Covenant University, Ahmadu Bello University ,Federal University of technology Minna,University of Ilorin ,University of Benin,University of Abuja
To confirmed more about this ,I also went to the NUC website (https://www.nuc.edu.ng/9th-january) to know if they actually have this claim on there website but I found nor so I checked there news bulletin to confirm instead i saw list of approved universities in Nigeria which crescent University happens to be one of them.
CONCLUSION
This claim is misleading. No evidence support the claim that crescent University is ranking number six amoung the worst universities in Nigeria.
