In a remarkable display of interfaith dialogue, the Islamic Mission for African Students Association (IMASA) at Crescent University hosted the renowned Academy of Islamic Propagation (ACADIP) president, Mallam Yusuf Adepoju, as a guest lecturer during their annual jihad week.
The event, which took place on May 7, 2023, captivated the audience with an insightful and thought-provoking lecture on the topic “Islam from the Scriptures.”
During the engaging lecture, Mallam Adepoju highlighted the divine nature of Islam and its alignment with the teachings of the Holy Bible.
Mallam Adepoju, a prominent figure in the field, shed light on the divinity of Islam and its correlation with biblical teachings. Drawing from the Holy Bible, he emphasized the shared ideals and practices between Islam and Christianity. With profound knowledge, he quoted numerous verses and chapters that highlighted major components of the Islamic faith.
One of the key points addressed by Mallam Adepoju was the belief in monotheism, which he demonstrated by referencing passages from the Bible that illustrated Jesus Christ’s unwavering faith in one God.
The ACADIP president delved into the topic of the last prophet according to the Muslim faith, Muhammad, and how the Bible also prophesized his arrival as the final messenger sent to mankind. Throughout his lecture, he presented compelling arguments supported by cogent points from the Holy Bible.
The program which lasted for nearly four hours offered both Muslim and Christian students the opportunity to attend the lecture, with an interactive session which allowed attendees to ask questions and engage in meaningful dialogue.
The management of Crescent University, along with the students, expressed their gratitude for hosting Mallam Adepoju and ACADIP.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibrahim Gbajabiamila and the Amir of IMASA Ridwan Ismail said the university community is honored to have had such an esteemed guest and expressing their desire to invite him again in the near future for an extended period of time.
Professor Gbajabiamila added that the IMASA’s initiative to invite Mallam Adepoju as a guest lecturer not only promoted interfaith dialogue but also fostered a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings among students of different religious backgrounds.
The Vice Chancellor submitted that the event served as a testament to the university’s commitment to creating an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment for all its students.
