The ninth edition of the African magic viewers choice awards(2023) which was held on 18th to 20th of May at the federal Palace Hotel and casino in Lagos Nigeria. The event feature interestingly for three days, the opening night and cultural day event- Celebration of African cultural and diversity, runway show and nominee gala night and then the award night. The event was put in place to focused on raising the bar when it comes to recogning and rewarding talents in various aspects of the African film and television industry.
AMVCA as a Celebration event for Africans involved both local and international professional film makers, celebrities, actors, directors, editors, films critics, visual artists, film students among others.
On the first day of the event which was the night and cultural day, the celebrities was seen in their different attires. It was a celebration of diversity and taste of culture. The event was also a showcase for art, music and dance by different singers, drummers and dancers, the night was an unforgettable day.
The second day of the 9th edition of the AMVCA event, on nominee gala night where the celebrities were to stun the red carpet to give their stylish look with their different outfit.
Some celebrities spotted at the event were Mercy Aigbe, Toke Makiwa, Tolani Baj, Kunle Remi, Iyabo Ojo, Toyin Abraham, Nkechi Blessing, Tobi Bakare, Nana Akua Addo, Juliet Ibrahim, Liquorose, Phyna, Beauty Tukura and Enioluwa Adeoluwa among others.
On the last day of the event which happens to be the award night where the winners of the awards will be announced. Veteran actress Patience Ozokwon was given the industry merit awards for her admirable services to the industry and Jade Osiberu’s Brotherhood and Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo grabbed multiples awards in different categories.
