The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced plans to establish a Public Relations University in order to bridge the professional gaps and further facilitate human capital development.
The president of the institute, Dr. Ike Neliaku announced this at the inaugural National Public Relations Week (NPRW) held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Dr Neliaku said that the institution would better the PR practitioners and that every graduate from the University will be recognized across the globe.
Speaking further, the President said the institute has moved from the solid foundation to building an ecosystem where every practitioner will have the opportunity to share the glory of the institution.
In recognition of the success of the maiden edition of the NIPR week, Dr. Neliaku expressed gratitude to the executive Governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his support towards the Ogun State chapter and for the provision of an office space and donation of a service bus to the chapter, and subsequently declared him Patron of NIPR.
Dr Neliaku also acknowledged the Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullah Sule for not just giving the institute a land but also approving that the Nasarawa state chapter of the institute be allocated one million Naira monthly.
He also expressed his gratitude to Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman of Kwara state, for donating ten million naira to the institute.
