CLAIM: A customer spiritually disappeared in the bank premises after he was detained for fraudulent activity.

VERDICT: Misleading

FULL TEXT:

A recent trending video claims that a customer “spiritually disappeared” in a bank after being detained for fraudulent activity. According to the details, the customer’s account was flagged with a “PND” (Post No Debit) and an “Arrest at Sight” notice. When the customer visited the bank to resolve transaction issues, the staff contacted the police and detained him with the help of MOPOL (Mobile Police). However, before the police arrived, the customer allegedly disappeared, which was confirmed by CCTV footage.

VERIFICATION:

After conducting a search on InVid to verify the video which result was not found.

From observation, the video may however be fake because we realized that there was no time and date in the video, and CCTV videos always contain timestamp.

During observation, the setting does not really look like a bank environment or premises. Also, the name of the bank which the incident occurred was not disclosed.

Another observation we had was the length at which the shadow showing by the window side reduced before and after video shows that the customer has disappeared. This made it obvious that it was paused and continued after the man left the spot.

Looking closely to the above pictures, we observed that a brick that was circled in the first picture was not there or was allegedly blurred after the customer disappeared. This means there is a manipulation in the video.

CONCLUSION:

The claim that a customer spiritually disappeared in a bank premises is misleading because there are no substantial evidences to support the claim. Also, the claim is too complex to be termed true or false.
