Preliminary report of our assignment

Our group is into Data journalism, we source for data on govspend.ng, where we get data on the

contracts that were issued to the contractors on the 31st of December. The money are meant to

be used for the construction of road and building of other facilities in Nigeria. Based on our

research, Federal ministry of work award a contract worth of ₦13,217,780.94 to the Federal Inland

inland services.

Federal ministry of agriculture and food security also gave Dillesama and co Limited

₦100,174,658.04 for he purpose of food production. All this information is what we are

disseminating to the audience through data journalism, they need to know all contracts that

were awarded.

We had different meetings online and physically before we came up with the angle we will

venture into while writing our data journalism stories. We decide on the contract awarded on the

31st of December, 2023, Which the people should benefit from.

Moreover, we always decided on writing stories on the number of Nigeria migrating to the

developed country of the world, but we had a challenge of getting an accurate figure for the

recent migration, so we used the 2015 statistics of Nigerians who are migrating abroad. This

data has tended to increase since 2015 till date.

The third story we decided on is writing a data journalism story on the improved number of

students admitted into Crescent University from 2019 till date. Mrs.Rasaq, a staff at the students

affairs, gave information on the positive outcome and negative impact of the increase of

students. We were able to get our data from the students’ affairs.

Our research was in two fold the online and the physical fold, all information concerning

government spending and Migration were got online, while the data for students were gotten

physically from the students affairs unit of the school. We have three stories prepared.

As part of our drafted information from the reliable source of govspend.ng, on the 31, December,

2023 Fgc onitsha Elm engineering services limited got ₦8,748,837.21 from the government. We

believe if the people should know about all this those beneficiary of the award will be

accountable and transparent

In addition we had worked to the extent that we’ve gathered enough information for the

assignment. One of it was how the National institute for construction technology uromi, edo stateawarded ₦9,780,000.00 to Prince dole tours limited, being payment to contractor for the ongoing

construction and installation of all in one solar street, it was expected to perform well.

Vipan global investment resource limited got ₦1,275,515,860.95 for the Federal ministry of works

for the emergency repairs of sagbama-toru-orua road in bayelsa state, all this discovery are all

put in excel to get a graphical representation of the money gotten from the government.

Our report is to inform you that i was the only one that participated in this assignment.
