Al-Istigamah Muslim society of Nigeria resently organized a free medical check-up for residents of A g e g e l o c a l government area of Lagos State.
The programme which was part of the society’s 10th anniversary featured free medical tests, distribution of eyes glasses and free drugs were given to beneficiaries.
Chairman of the society, Qudari Olawore, said, the programme was o r g a n i z e d t o ameliorate the problems confronting people with eye challenges and who could not afford hospital bills. He further explain that “Part of the three days programme is to feature a fund rising for the society, turbaning, award presentation to exemplary members and launching of the society prayer’s book”. Al-istiqamah Islamic society is one of the religious society in Nigeria that cater for it members need through its foundation, Al- istiqamah Islamic foundation which was established in 2009, a year after the society itself was founded by Shiekh Zakariyah Sanusi Olawore. This is aside the spiritual support the society provides to further strengthen its mission. The free medical check-up was not only benefited by Muslims in Agege and Miran environ, Christian living w i t h i n t h e community also benefited as every individual, especially the aged were warmly welcome to partake in the exercise.
The society states that the programme is to reaffirm its commitment to serve humanity both spiritually and physically which is the essence of the foundation and the moral the prophet preaches. The host of the event is the founder and chief missioner, Shiekh Zakariyah Sanusi Olawore and the guest lecturer is Shiekh Haabullah Adam Abdullahi El- Ilory OON.Al-istiqamah Islamic foundation is a non-profit making organization (NGO) which has organized human support programs in the part. and the society of the essential need to give to the society which is one of the cores of any Islamic body or foundation.
