Students of the Department of Political Science, Crescent University, Abeokuta, came together on Friday, June 19, 2026, to celebrate cultural diversity during the department’s much-anticipated Cultural Day, which was marked by colourful displays, music, food and traditional performances.
The event commenced with a speech delivered in the Fulani language by a female student, setting the tone for a celebration that highlighted the richness and uniqueness of Nigeria’s diverse cultures.

As the programme progressed, guests and students were treated to music, refreshments and a variety of delicacies. The atmosphere became livelier as cultural dance groups representing the Igbo, Fulani and Hausa ethnic groups thrilled the audience with energetic performances, providing entertainment and showcasing the beauty of their traditions.

Students also appeared in different traditional attires to proudly represent their cultural backgrounds. Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and Fulani outfits added colour and elegance to the occasion, reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity among members of the department.
Meals, drinks and bottled water were shared among attendees, while take-away packs were distributed to participants. The event created an avenue for students to appreciate one another’s heritage and strengthen bonds beyond ethnic and cultural differences.
Speaking on the atmosphere of the event, several students described the day as memorable, fun-filled and vibrant, with many expressing appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate the country’s rich cultural heritage.
