Research Topic: Students’ Perception of the Cancellation of Jersey
Day at Crescent University and Its Impact on Student Participation
and Campus Businesses
Background of the Study
Jersey Day was planned as a social event aimed at promoting
interaction, entertainment, and unity among students of Crescent
University. In preparation for the event, many students purchased
and wore jerseys, while several student entrepreneurs invested
money in food, drinks, accessories, and other items with the
expectation of making sales during the program.
However, upon arriving at the venue, students were informed that
the event had been cancelled. According to information from the
school authorities, the cancellation was due to the organizers’
failure to participate in an earlier university program held during
Jihad Week. As a result, many students were disappointed after
spending time and money preparing for the event.
The cancellation also had a significant economic impact on studentbusiness owners. Many entrepreneurs recorded little or no sales
because the event did not hold as planned. Some were forced to
move around the hostels selling their goods at reduced prices in an
attempt to recover part of their investment, while others were
unable to sell their products at all, resulting in financial losses.
This incident raises concerns about event planning, communication
between student organizers and the university management, and
the effects of last-minute event cancellations on students and
campus businesses. Therefore, this study seeks to examine
students’ perceptions of the cancellation of Jersey Day, its impact
on student entrepreneurs and participants, and possible measures
that can prevent similar occurrences in the future.

on students.
