With the commencement of the second semester examinations just about a week away, a number of students at Crescent University, Abeokuta, are reportedly at risk of missing their examinations due to unpaid school fees.

According to the university’s financial policy, students are required to pay 100 percent of their tuition fees before they are permitted to participate in the second semester examinations. Those who fail to meet this requirement are not granted access to sit for their papers.

In addition to the examination restriction, the university has imposed a late payment penalty of ₦100,000 on students who failed to pay their school fees before the stipulated deadline. The development has generated concern among affected students, many of whom are making efforts to raise the required funds before the examinations begin.

Some students expressed worry that the policy could prevent them from completing the academic session despite having attended lectures and fulfilled other academic requirements. Others appealed to the university management to reconsider the penalty or provide an extension to enable more students to settle their outstanding fees.

As the examination period draws closer, affected students remain hopeful that a solution will be reached to allow eligible students to complete their examinations without further financial burden.
